§ We came to this world to LIVE OUT LOUD.
I Wasn’t Having Any Fun
I have to confess, I wasn’t having any fun.
Somehow over the past couple of months I went from really enjoying my leadership coaching business to feeling like I was stuck in my room in a little town in Colombia spending endless days on my laptop.
Not good for a people-loving extrovert.
I was starting to wonder if I even wanted a leadership coaching business. I mean I love the coaching and writing but most of my time was spent on marketing. I wasn’t having much fun.
The point of my business is to live my passion and purpose even more fully while helping people. Instead I was exhausted and burnt out.
Something had to change…
So, I took a day off work and hiked a beautiful mountain with a group of women. I hadn’t met most of them before and I really had a great time getting to know them as we enjoyed gorgeous scenery and a delicious lunch afterwards.
I felt rejuvenated and hopeful again.
So what did I do next?
I took two more days off work the following week and went on another hike and hosted a vegetarian cooking group at my house for lunch. We drank lots of wine!
I figured that more of a good thing is even better! Socializing and having fun that is; not necessarily the wine.
And it was!
I found my zest and energy returning.
Ironically, even though I was working and marketing way less, new clients reached out, I was invited to be an expert on a panel, interview requests came my way and creative ideas started popping into my head!
It’s funny how I have to keep relearning the same old lesson.
I’m pretty driven and have the tendency to overwork, often at the expense of my joie de vivre. REMEBERING TO LISTEN TO MY NEEDS FOR CONNECTION AND TIME IN NATURE AND GIVING MYSELF TIME TO PLAY ON A CONSISTENT BASIS AND THAT IT’S ACTUALLY NOT SLACKING OFF BUT EXTREMELY PRODUCTIVE BECAUSE THE UNIVERSE ALWAYS REWARDS MY LIVING IN ALIGNMENT WITH WHAT IS FOR MY HIGHEST GOOD, is a lesson I have to learn over and over again.
Not to mention the Law of Attraction – what could I attract from an exhausted, unhappy, isolated state of being? Nothing particularly good. Mostly just fights with various members of my family.
From a happy, rejuvenated place, however, I’m attracting great business opportunities, while having fun and enjoying my life. A definite win/win.
Often LESS WORK = MORE RESULTS.
What about you – can you relate? Are you working too hard, burning yourself out? Or are you remembering to tend to your needs and keep your passion and zest for life burning strong?
I would love to hear from you so please leave me a comment below.
Xoxo,
Natalie
P.S. I’m really excited because an idea that came to me as I was out having fun was to interview some amazing women who are living their passion and purpose while helping tons of people improve their lives! I want to share these interviews with my tribe so we can all learn from them. I’ll be sharing more soon!
Natalie I can relate to how you were feeling!. I recently started my Mary Kay business. The person who gave me the opportunity is amazing (positive and full of energy). I been able to achieve a lot in the past few months, however, I am stuck!. I been focusing on marketing and stopped having fun and making money !!! My stress level is through the roof and catch myself being negative all the time!. I am looking forward to the 12 Step free workshop 🙂
Hi Claudia,
Thanks for sharing. So the question that comes to mind is what do you need to have more of in your life and in your business to make it fun? It’s hard to build anything positive from a place of stress and negativity so how can you reduce these while bringing more fun, joy and ease into your daily life?
xoxo,
Natalie
