§ We came to this world to LIVE OUT LOUD.

Confessions of a Former Control Freak

Feb 26, 2019

I’m a control freak.

And I realized a long time ago that trying to control everything in my life was just making me stressed out, anxious and miserable.

Worrying over every possible outcome to any situation was not adding to my happiness.

Truth to tell, I have been working on this forever and I have gotten pretty good at letting go and letting the Universe do its thing.

Except when I get really stressed out. Then my inner control freak shows up and tries to manage whatever is going on the only way she knows how.

So my big goal for 2019 is to learn to FLOW WITH LIFE. (Yes, I get the irony of setting a goal to flow).

What does that even mean?

It means that while I do my part: dream, visualize what I want, imagine how delicious it would be to get it, set goals, make plans, stay in gratitude for all of the delicious bounty in my life,

I trust the Universe to do its part: turn my dreams into reality in its own way on its own schedule.

It means I keep my hands very loosely on the steering wheel as I allow the Universe to tell me where to go and ultimately, drive the car.

In practical terms, that means that I pay attention to the synchronicities and inspired ideas that come to me and I follow up and take action. But I also notice when things feel like I am forcing them or pushing too hard and I stop. I let the chips fall where they may.

I remind myself that every other human being, including my nearest and dearest, has their own life path and learning to do in this lifetime and it’s not my job to show them what I think that learning is.

It means that every day I open my heart more and more to trust the goodness of life, to remember all the wonderful stuff the Universe has already helped me manifest and I relax.

I picked up Trust Life, a book of daily wisdom by Louise Hay because the title spoke to me and encapsulated what flowing with life was all about for me: Trusting Life.

And wouldn’t you know it, the subtitle is: Love Yourself Every Day.

Could it be that the more I learn to love myself, the more I trust life, the more the goodness of life just flows to me?

I think so.

And I notice that the more I flow with life, the happier I am.

The more I let go, the more I’m amazed by the amazing synchronicities and the miracles that unfold every day.

The more joyful I feel.

What about you? Where are you trying to control life? What part of your life could benefit from more flow?

I would love to hear from you so leave a comment below or reach out to me by email at natalie@nataliematushenko.com.

Happy Tuesday!

xoxo,
