§ We came to this world to LIVE OUT LOUD!

My Secret to Feeling Amazing Right Now

May 5, 2020

When I interview world-renowned experts on how to thrive in times of great uncertainty, I realized that I’m already doing the things that helps people thrive in the most challenging of circumstances.

And just in case you’re wondering, I have things I could choose to worry about too:
t

Where will we live? We are currently displaced from our home of 8 years in Bogota, Colombia due to closed national borders and living in an Airbnb near my parents in Florida. Colombia has been implementing a very strict quarentine and social distancing policy and there is no way to know when airports will open. The mayor of Bogota has said on national TV that Colombian airports will open this year over her dead body. We don’t know when we will be able to get back home or see our beloved horses or cats.

t

Where will my kids go to school this Fall? If Colombia doesn’t open, our younger kids can’t go back to school. It’s also very uncertain what will happen with our oldest who was studying in a very rigorous IB program in Armenia. Do we send them to school in Florida? Move up north to Washington DC or Boston, where we used to live? Keep homeschooling?

t

Will everybody in my family be ok through this? Details withheld to protect the privacy of everyone involved.

t

Will I make any income this year? Self-explanatory.

t

Will my husband keep his job? Self-explanatory.

t

How will all the people we know and care for who live hand-to-mouth in Colombia (and all over the world) survive this? Self-explanatory.

t

What will our world be like in the coming months? Years? Self-explanatory.

The list could go on and on…
But notice I say ‘choose’.
That’s because I’ve learned through many years of trial and error that we can greatly influence where our mind goes, how our day is going to flow and by extension, how our life is going to go as well.
And that’s really good news!
It means that we actually have a lot more control than we think over what happens in our lives and how we feel as we live them,

My #1 priority over the past two months has been to keep myself in a place of high energetic vibration – not only because it feels great but because I can then be the anchor in the storm to all those around me.

I’m happy to report that taking care of myself in this way has allowed me to stay positive and optimistic, to see the gifts, big and small, in everything that’s happening and to come up with creative alternatives to whatever challenges we face.
Best of all, I think I’ve been much easier to live with than I would have been without this self-care.
So what’s this self-care that I’m talking about?

So here’s what I did to get it all under control:

I have developed a morning guided meditation routine that I personally do each and every morning… before I talk to anybody… before I check emails or social media… before I do anything else.

And I do it religiously, whether I feel like it or not, whether I’m tired or not.

It’s a morning routine that allows me to clear out my energy so I’m at my most powerful throughout the day and to create the future that I want to have. This could be what I want my future to be like (where I will be, what I will be doing, etc.) and/or the state of being I want to be in as I go through my life.

Every morning, I do a combination of both, making sure to focus on the state of being I want to cultivate for my future: open hearted, full of love, joy and laughter and going with the flow, seeing the perfection in the imperfection of my human life.

And guess what?

It’s so cool to literally feel my brain change.

It’s a routine of sorts that I came up with after studying energetic practices with masters such as Dr. Joe Dispenza, Christie Marie Sheldon and Jeffrey Allen.

And I wanted to share it with you because my purpose in life is to share what I learn on my life’s journey.
