What to Do If You’re Sick of This Pandemic
I don’t know about you but I’ve been getting pretty tired of this pandemic.
But here in the United States, as well as in many places around the world, we’re still in the thick of it. There are so many reasons for this. Don’t even get me started on inept leadership, ignorance or people’s refusal to wear masks, all in the name of “freedom”. Arggh!
I know that I’m really fortunate. Our family is together and we are all healthy. We’re in a house with a pool. We have economic security, for now. We are so much better off than most of the world.
And… I feel guilty writing this bit I need to get it out:
I’M SICK OF THIS PANDEMIC!!!!
I’m tired. I’m done with it. I want it over. I want to go back to life as it was. Or to life as it’s going to be. Whatever, I just wanna be done with it!!!!
I want to see people, hug people, be with people! I’m a people person!
Every once in a while, I feel like a toddler having a temper tantrum, on the inside.
On the outside, I appear calm. I take a deep breath and remind myself that throwing a temper tantrum out loud won’t help the pandemic end any sooner and I certainly won’t be modeling anything positive to my family.
Can you relate?
So here’s what I do:
1. I take 10 deep, slow breaths.
We hear it all the time but I will repeat it again because if you’re anything like me, you might be forgetting to breathe deeply when you’re upset.
2. I do a quick visualization.
I imagine cosmic energy (I see it as a while light) entering my body through the top of my head (my crown chakra) and filling me with the energy of creation and possibility. I imagine it clearing out anything that doesn’t serve me from my body.
3. I ground myself.
I imagine an energetic grounding cord (a ray of light) reaching out of the base of my spine deep into the Earth, connecting me to Mother Earth, to her nurturing, support and sustenance.
4. I make a mental gratitude list in my head.
Focusing on what I can be grateful for right now always shifts the energy into the positive.
5. I connect to the opportunities that are available to me in this situation.
I believe that there are gifts available in everything that happens to us. There’s always something to learn. There’s always a way to grow and become a more loving, compassionate person. There’s always an opportunity to advance my consciousness and create a better future for myself, my family and the planet.
As I connect to opportunities available in this moment, I can feel my muscles relax and my soul exhale.
I remember that this is an opportunity to re-evaluate my life.
What’s really important?
What is no longer serving me?
What routines do I want to change?
What relationships do I need to restructure so they are more fulfilling?
What do I want to create in the future?
The beauty of chaos is that anything is possible. When everything is up in the air and uncertain, we have the opportunity to connect to cosmic energy and co-create anything we want with the Universe.
It’s powerful and it works.
