How I Managed to Have a Great Time with a Broken Toe

Jun 4, 2019

Are you curious how I managed my trip to Mexico City with a broken toe?

It was quite an adventure and I learned a lot.

Mostly that the mind is a powerful, powerful tool.

I landed in Mexico City with my entire foot black and blue and about double its normal size. I also landed absolutely determined to have a great time with my dear friend from college.

She lent me her son’s HUGE red sneakers and off to the pyramids we went. We walked for hours and had a fantastic time! The guide we hired to teach us about the mystical powers of the pyramids couldn’t believe that I was walking on a broken toe.

But here I think is the secret: being reunited with my college friend instantly put me in the mindset of being in college.

When a family with a 20-year old joined our tour, I remember thinking for a moment, “Ok, at least somebody our age is on the tour.“

I’m not kidding.

It took me about two hours to realize that she was actually closer to my oldest daughter’s age than to mine.

And what happens when your mind thinks you’re 20?

You feel like you’re 20 and you act like you’re 20.

You put on ridiculous looking red sneakers, take some ibuprofen and climb pyramids and laugh and don’t even think about your toe.

And then you get up the next day and do it again… and again… and again.

Finally, you come home five days later to your amazingly full “responsible” grown-up life and your toe starts to hurt BIGTIME.

Hmm… I need to work on my mindset again.

So I do some energy work on myself, count my blessings and smile as the pain fades away.

It’s amazing how we have all the tools we need to heal ourselves.

So what about you? When have you used your mindset to overcome the odds?

I would love to hear from you so feel free to send me an email at natalie@nataliematushenko.com.

Happy Tuesday!

xoxo,

Natalie
